Who operates this site
micahhunter.com is operated by Micah Hunter. Use the contact form for privacy or deletion requests; the request is forwarded privately and the email address is not placed in public page markup.
Contact messages
When you use a contact form, the site collects the name, email address, optional topic and subject, message, page context, and submission time you provide. This is used to read, respond to, and follow up on your enquiry. Messages are delivered through Flowform and retained for up to 24 months.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, the site stores your email address, subscription status, relevant subscription timestamps, and the page where you subscribed so new essays can be sent when published, signup sources can be understood, and unsubscribe requests can be honoured. Newsletter delivery uses Brevo. Records are retained while you are subscribed; after unsubscribing, only the minimum suppression record needed to respect that request is retained.
Anonymous analytics and blog view counts
Public production pages use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for cookie-free aggregate traffic and performance reporting. The site removes query strings and fragments before events are sent and excludes Sanity Studio, preview deployments, and local development. These tools are not loaded when the browser sends an explicit Do Not Track preference.
Published blog articles also send their canonical slug and a random retry ID to this site's blog-view endpoint. This anonymous aggregate count continues when Do Not Track suppresses the broader analytics tools. The server excludes known bots, validates the request origin, temporarily deduplicates retry IDs, and rate-limits abuse. Sanity stores one aggregate counter per post containing the total, migrated baseline, and timestamps—not a document for each view.
The blog-view request does not send a page title, referrer, campaign, country, device, location, screen size, permanent visitor ID, or session ID. A retry ID is held temporarily in Upstash and is not written to Sanity. The request's IP address may be converted to a salted hash for short-lived rate limiting; neither the address nor hash is stored in the blog counter.
There is a known historical tracking gap after 22 July 2026 until reliable bounded counting is enabled. Missing views from that period are disclosed rather than estimated.
Service providers and external links
This site uses Vercel to host the site and provide aggregate analytics, Sanity to manage website content and aggregate blog counters, Upstash for temporary retry deduplication and abuse prevention, Flowform to deliver contact messages, and Brevo to send newsletter email. Each provider processes information necessary to provide its service. Links to Hunter Music Academy, Hunter Software Solutions, and social platforms lead to services with their own privacy practices.
Your requests
You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter email. For access, correction, deletion, or privacy questions, use the contact form and identify your request. If a question or comment is considered for a future essay, it will only be used anonymously.
